Description: 'Purple Rain' is a bulbous herbaceous perennial, 90cm high, with green leaves which die back before airy, sparkler-like rich pink-purple flowerheads, 15cm across, open in early summer.
Care: Plant bulbs in early autumn at a depth of about four times the diameter of the bulb, in well-drained soil in full sun. Propagate by division: once flowering is over and leaves have died down, lift the bulbs, detach any offsets, and plant them in their final positions or grow on first in gritty compost. No pruning required.
