Common plant name: Echinacea purpurea 'White Swan'
Category: Clump forming, rhizomous herbaceous perennial
Plant family: Asteraceae
Light preference: Full sun/Partial shade
Soil preference: Chalk, Loam, sand, acid, alkaline, neutral, well-drained, poorly-drained
Flowering Month: August- October
Size:
- 0.5 - 1 meters height
- 0.1 - 0.5 meters spread
Description:
I would highly recommend growing Echinacea. They are a late flowering plant and so bring a burst when lots of other plants are fading. Most types are a wildlife magnet and they flower right into autumn.
Care:
Some varieties are more hardy than others so be mindful of your soil (even a little bit of clay will put off the more fragile types). They can be deadheaded to encourage more flowers and can be divided in autumn or spring.
