They have a fan of sword-shaped leaves, and spires of funnel-shaped, showy flowers in a wide range of colours. They also make good cut flowers. Medium flowered gladiolus, with long stems bearing deep orange petals with yellow markings on the lower florets 


Gladioli do the best in well drained soil in a sunny position. as soon as the soil is workable, prepare it for planting. dig some well rotted manure into the soil. Cut the leaves to the ground when they die down and turn yellow in late summer.
