Lamprocapnos spectabilis 'Alba', commonly known as Bleeding Heart, is a deciduous perennial belonging to the Papaveraceae family. It has a height of 1.2m and a spread of 45cm. This plant is hardy and features white flowers and green foliage.

Formerly known as Dicentra spectabilis, the Bleeding Heart is a Chinese plant that produces heart-shaped flowers in a pink-red colur with white tips. These flowers hang from arching stems during late spring to early summer.

Lamprocapnos spectabilis 'Alba' specifically bears pure white heart-shaped flowers that dangle gracefully from the arching stems in late spring and early summer. While it can grow in light shade and looks beautiful when planted in clumps among shrubs, it often thrives even better in a sunny border as long as the soil is consistently moist.

Clumps of Lamprocapnos spectabilis 'Alba' remain compact for many years and generally do not require dividing. They have brittle roots and do not appreciate disturbance. Instead, consider taking root cuttings in spring for propagation.

Regarding wildlife value, Lamprocapnos 'Alba' does not have any specific known importance to wildlife in the UK.
